Articulations
is a series of oil paintings (so named because they are designed as a pattern/void
"articulation" rather than being conceived as windows into illusionistic
space) focusing on structures, machines, or otherwise man-made entities. They
are an exploration into spatial windows geared toward fun and exciting design
inventions while at the same time serving as a meditation on the noble quality
of creative industrial engineering. They are a testament to frozen forms
of a living intelligence.
These pieces
were created with installation in mind. What this means is that they are an
open-ended consistent suite by design: they are intended to be grouped together.
I have considered the palette, the subjects, the moral theme, the proportion
scheme, the size, shape and aspect ratios of the panels themselves with the
intent that any two or more can be grouped or otherwise arranged with any
or all of their sister pieces to maximum effect. That consistency is based
on design principles SPECIFIC to this series.
Adding to their
interest is the fact that since they have all been professionally archived,
limited edition prints are a possibility to further customize (through re-sizing)
the suite to a given space.
